Sample MapsCommunity Research Services offers a range of maps for your mapping needs, including QCT, Neighborhood, Targeting, Thematic and Desire Line Maps. Different types of maps are also available upon request. Please click the following links for examples of each specialty map.
QCT Maps - Qualified Census Tract maps highlight the Qualified Census Tracts in a specific county. A QCT is any census tract in which at least 50% of households have an income less than 60% of the AMI. A visual representation of these tracts can assist developers and investors in determining the best location for an LIHTC development.
Neighborhood Maps -
A neighborhood map shows the "walkables" of a community. These maps show the neighborhoods that make up an area, as they would be recognized and delineated by a local resident. These maps are not drawn using census tracts or zip codes; instead, they are drawn using resources such as local realtors, newspapers and site visits. They tell the story of community life.
Desire Line Maps -
Desire Line maps show region-to-region flows. One common use of a desire line map is to provide a visual of where the new residents of a development lived prior to their tenancy. These maps are a way of revealing the "before and after" for a specific variable.
Thematic Maps -
A thematic map displays the spatial patterns of statistical data, such as population or median income.
Targeting Maps -
A targeting map "targets" specific areas or developments, showing a location within a certain boundary.
